How we research the official links

The finder is designed to answer one practical question: where can I officially register my business for this municipality?

What the finder covers

The municipality of the business address determines the responsible authority. Our directory covers the 10,749 municipalities in Germany’s official municipality register and connects each one to a researched public-sector route.

Sources we accept

We use pages published by public authorities. Private directories, lead-generation pages and search-result snippets are not treated as evidence.

  • Municipal and city administration websites
  • Official shared authorities such as Amt, Samtgemeinde or Verwaltungsgemeinschaft
  • Official district and federal-state service portals
  • Official online-service portals and government forms

How a municipality route is selected

  1. 1

    Identify the municipality

The official municipality register provides the denominator and distinguishes places that share the same name.

  2. 2

    Find the responsible public authority

We prefer the municipality or responsible shared authority. A district or state route is used when it is the official path for that place.

  3. 3

    Confirm direct actions separately

An online application or form is shown only when an official source provides or confirms that exact route.

What happens when information is missing

We do not infer a fee, document list or digital submission option from another municipality. The page links to the responsible authority and tells the user to verify the missing detail there.

Keeping links current

Every municipality page shows when its official links were last checked. Authorities can move or change pages, so the linked authority remains the final source for the current procedure.
